UPDATE From Kayla 4-16-2024

 Insurance denied me staying longer they don't want to pay for it anymore for me being here. Doctor said the entire team from PT, OT, nurses and my Doctor faught so hard for me to stay and they just plain said no 2 weeks is enough we are sending her home on the 18th. I am literally in tears and just my mind is blown. My insurance doesn't even offer out patient physical therapy....I have no idea what we are going to do at this point. Everyone please I need so many prayers today my insurance says they want my discharge date to be the 18th! That's 2 days from now! My doctor, nurses, PT Team and OT team, are having a meeting with my insurance company today because my insurance says the 18th is my discharge date but my entire teams says I am no where near ready to go home on the 18th. AND my insurance does not off outside physical therapy So my team presenting all my records, notes from every team member to them to show them I'm not ready to go home. I can't walk normal and even when I do walk it's with a brace and a walker and my PT holding me up, can't get out of bed without assistance, go to the bathroom without assistance etc. So I guess I will find out today what insurance decides. Which is so crazy insurance makes decisions over the people who take care of me on a daiky basis. As much as I would love to come home in 2 days I know I'm not ready at all. Please continue to prayer hard today the right choice is made for me to get the right care and not based on money. Hi, My name is Bronte. I am creating this Go Fund Me Account for Kayla Johnson & Family. Kayla plays Co-Ed Volleyball with me and her daughter plays Recreational Volleyball with my oldest daughter.

This family needs any assistance they can get during this difficult time. Kayla was playing on our adult volleyball team last Tuesday evening when she fell to her knees to make a play and heard a loud "POP" in her back. Our teammates assisted her as best as they could off of the Volleyball Court. It wasn't until we had her on the sidelines we would tell just HOW much pain she is. She was unable to stand comfortably or sit at all. She was unable to move from her position. I called her an ambulance and she was whisked away. She was taken to Mercy Springfield where she has went through Emergency Surgery to remove a Herniated Disk from her back. Unfortunately, this did not fix her pain. She has been in excruciating pain since Tuesday, endured many many MRI's and CT Scans with no answers as to why she is still in this pain. She's lost feeling in Left Leg and Foot, no control of her bladder or bowels. Sunday evening she experienced 6 seizures in the middle of the night lasting anywhere from 1 -2.5 minutes each. She does not have any memory of Sunday at all. At this time, she has been told whenever she does get released she will have to go to a rehab facility to learn to walk again.

Kayla has two Children, Brooklyn (9) & Luca (10 months) and a Fiancé - Joseph.

This family is more than deserving of any assistance available. I wish there was more I could personally do... Hopefully this great community I know we live in with come to the rescue.

Anything raised will help this family with child care (Kayla is a stay at home mom) medical expenses and Meals for the family while Kayla is away.
