Kristen is now, a nurse in need.

Kristen has been diagnosed with a pituitary adenoma. She started having trouble with blood pressure, and overall fatigue, weakness, some cardiac symptoms, and unusual weight loss.  She spent 8 days at St. Luke's Hospital having a full cardiac workup and was cleared. Soon thereafter, having a very confused episode that was unsettling led her to see a Endocrinologist who noted her adrenal glands were shut down, her thyroid was no longer working effectively and she is producing 30 Xs the normal amount of Growth hormone. It was determined her pituitary gland was the cause and indicated a mass. The mystery that has been slowly robbing Kristen of her health for many years had finally revealed itself.

She was sent to a Neurosurgeon. The first one stated it was inoperable. The second one has agreed to explore the situation surgically and make a final determination once he has visualized the location of the tumor.

The Endocrinologist states this must come out as the excessive Growth Hormone will have devastating effects on her body and ultimately kill her.

She is currently on FMLA with her employer and that is scheduled to end mid-September. This is how she is currently insured. She hasn't been able to work and earn a full paycheck since April.

Current medical bills are exceeding $50,000. This is the amount that is deemed as patient responsibility and not covered by insurance.

If you are unable to donate money, but can help with dinners, school clothes for the children, (they have their school supplies already), help with laundry, gas cards, housecleaning, running the children to their sporting events after school. Any of these things will be so appreciated. The greatest help would be dinners for family size of 6 healthy eaters!

Kristen will have her exploratory surgery on August 25th and we are hoping for an excellent outcome.

Your generosity and compassion is so appreciated and means the world to the entire family.

A bit about Kristen:
Kristen is an RN who has spent her career and life caring for strangers, patients, family and friends and now really needs our help during this incredibly difficult time. As a former Hospice colleague and friend of the family, I've witnessed first-hand the compassionate end of life care this incredible team of angels have provided to so many amazing souls.

I am asking you to help Kristen and Dena by making any donation of love to their family that you can to help them through their journey.
