Herman Taylor JR

Herman, a devoted father of two, loving husband, and genuine friend was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer that has progressed to both lobes of his liver October 14, 2022. So many people have reached out to see how they can help and we are so thankful for all the well wishes. This fund is set up for Herman and our family to help during this time of incredible heartaches and to navigate through the devastating disease and treatment. It will help toward supporting the family with living but mostly for medical expenses. It all started in December when Herman was experiencing severe pain in his right side, extreme fatigue, and severe weight loss. Thinking it was due to his COVID 19 diagnosis. After quarantine he sought help from the family doctor who did some labs. His liver numbers came back a little concerning. In September the doctor sent Herman in for an ultrasound on his liver. The images came back with a concerning spot, so he was sent for a CT scan and referred to an Oncologist. Upon meeting with the Oncologist, it was determined that a PET scan would be needed. This surprising news shocked everyone and broke our hearts. Herman was able to have an expedited workup, biopsy, full body CT scan, PET scan, diagnosis, and port placement within two weeks time. He started his 1st round of chemotherapy on November 9th at the Elkhart General Ambletory/Infusion center. Throughout this time, Herman had an outpour of support. We are so thankful for all the wonderful friends and family's support for him and the family during this scary time. Herman had just begun a new job in Chicago back in May prior to the diagnosis. He has a very supportive employer and he will continue to work as he is able. But the traveling back and forth for treatment is very costly. Herman is currently undergoing chemotherapy with Cathy, his wife, always at his side. Cathy has been working full time, and while caring for her elderly father. We don’t know what life will bring us, but this cancer diagnosis has been a rude awakening. Thank you for your support. Your prayers, thoughts and love are truly appreciated during this difficult time. Much love, The Taylor Family
