As many of you know, our friend Natalie has spent nearly half of the month of January at NYU Medical Center due to acute pyelonephritis aka a gnarly kidney infection, which caused her kidneys to fail. Doctors said if she hadn’t come into the ER she would have gone into septic shock within 3 days and died. Thank God that wasn’t the case! In addition, Natalie was hospitalized earlier this month for pneumonia, and is still suffering from terrible bouts of nausea and vomiting as she completes the antibiotics for her kidneys.
I spoke with Natalie yesterday afternoon. She had just gotten out of the hospital for the 3rd time. The first thing she said when I asked her how she was doing was that she felt blessed that so many people reached out, sent messages, cards, flowers and came to visit her while she was sick. Her optimism is literally blinding. I asked if I could come over and help her with anything, she said, “Today isn’t a good day, because I need to figure out how to pay for my medicine and rent.” I thought, “Oh, Nat. Of course! She hasn’t been able to work during the month of January."
She was actually going to go back to work last night, one day after leaving the hospital! If Natalie doesn't focus on resting and getting better her doctors warned her she could seriously damage her already fragile kidneys and end up needing a transplant. Health-wise she cannot afford to work right now, but rent and bills-wise she can't afford to not work.
Natalie is one of the kindest and hardest working woman I know. In addition to three jobs outside of comedy, she produces two shows: Cereal Killer Comedy Night and Wise Ass @ Wise Men: a charity show for Hearts of Gold, an organization that helps homeless mothers and children get back on their feet. She is in tough financial rut with so many medical problems and health complications this month. To pay her February rent she needs ($900) and to pay for her medications for her kidneys to continue to heal she needs ($300). She needs a minimum of ($1,200). In addition, Natalie needs money to cover her other bills: cell phone, utilities, etc. and of course her medical and hospital costs. Therefore, we are hoping to raise at least ($3000) for her!
If you’re able to give $10-$20 it would be a huge help. If you aren’t in a position to donate please share this link with your friends! Thank you in advance for your gifts and donations and sharing a mutual love with me for Miss Natalie Peyton. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Love,
Alexandra Kayhart
