The Erica Seguine & Shan Baker Jazz Orchestra was formed in 2011, and we have been performing in New York City and the surrounding areas ever since. During that time we developed our sound as composers and as an ensemble. Our debut album has been long in the making and it is finally time to record this music the right way!
We will be recording August 28th and 29th. Our album will be produced by multi-Grammy-nominated composer and bandleader Darcy James Argue and will be filled with all original compositions by both of us. It also will feature some of the best musicians in NYC. Multiple Grammy-award winning engineer Brian Montgomery will be with us in the studio. Brian has worked with Paul McCartney, Esperanza Spalding, Darcy James Argue's Secret Society, Maria Schneider, John Hollenbeck, the Gil Evans Project, and many others. We are excited to have both Darcy and Brian on board!
Recording a jazz orchestra album is not only a humongous but also an extremely expensive endeavor. This recording will involve 20 musicians, two days in the recording studio, rehearsals, a producer, engineer, videographer, graphic designer, editing, mixing, mastering, a publicist… and more!
We can’t do it alone, so we are asking for your help. Every dollar raised will go directly to the creation of this album. After you donate, please consider sharing our fundraiser and video to help out even more! We will be posting videos and updates of our progress before and during the recording session so you can watch the process unfold.
