Hi, I am the son of the owners of this young dog that we love and care for so much. We received Penny about 5 and a half years ago from a family member in San Francisco. Penny was a stray dog that was found in the streets and had a lot of trust issues. When we made the trip to San Francisco to give this pup a new life, it was worth it all. She is the best, calmest, and most outgoing dog I have ever met. She loves to be outside and play, always been an active dog. Penny has been up and running around for the 5 years we had her, not one thing wrong.
Penny had this extended paw pad that went all the way up her arm and it never seemed to be an issue or bother her. Then about 5 months ago, it started to inflame and fill with pus. In the same time span, she ended up erupting it somehow in the backyard as she was playing. Once it erupted, it went downhill from there. We took her to multiple vets around the San Bernardino area and the first vet gave us an option to try and let the eruption heal by wrapping it and making sure it’s clean. They also gave us a week's worth of medicine. Once we realized there was no progression in her healing process, we took her to a different vet. The news we received wasn’t an easy pill to swallow. Our 2 options boiled down to one and it was to amputate Penny's leg. That will be the only option for Penny or, of course, the worst option, putting Penny down.
Due to the things going on in my family’s life right now, we don’t have $2000 to amputate her leg. $2000 was the cheapest quote we could get for that type of surgery. We will continue to fight and love and care for Penny; we just don’t want to see her like this anymore. If you would like to join the fight to save Penny and give her another chance at life, please feel free to leave any donation. Everything is appreciated no matter the amount.
THANK YOU
