Back at it again with needing support because the medical system sucks. The topic of the day? Medical racism and fatphobia.
As many of you know, I have had awful, painful periods since I started having periods almost 18 years ago. I have had countless doctors tell me I am fine and that I should just take birth control or push through. I finally found an OBGYN who listened to me and got me in for an ultrasound to see if I have PCOS or Endometriosis (two of the conditions I have been advocating to get tested for the last 15 years). While there, they found a fibroid (noncancerous growth) the size of a small football. An MRI later, they let me know I needed to get laparoscopic surgery to remove it, which would take about 2 months to heal. Luckily, it is not life-threatening (just very inconvenient and uncomfortable), so I was able to push the surgery to June after I graduate. Unfortunately, because I'm still in school, I have no time to work to save more money to sustain 2 months without work. I need help to pay for my basic needs for 2 months. This includes rent, utilities, groceries, etc. Also, this amount I am asking covers any potential medical supplies I need for recovery.
Thank you so much for supporting me. We will not get through this hellscape without relying on each other. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions (and if we are friends, I will send you a pic of my MRI if you want to see how big the fibroid is).
