Steve Kraus Rehabilitation Fund
Donation protected
Steve Kraus is a loving husband, father of two boys, friend, and a longtime member of the Canby community. He has volunteered many hours of his time coaching, being a member of the Canby Youth Football organization, and is the current president of the Canby High School Booster Club. Many hours have also been spent helping his students at Clackamas High School, where he was teaching economics and psychology before his injury.
On October 9, 2015, Steve was admitted to the Rehabilitation Institute of Oregon (RIO) at Good Sam to recover from a severe back injury that has left him unable to walk. He has nerve damage and paralysis from the waste down. The hard work he puts in every day in rehab amazes the staff, and his dedication to learning how to cope with his injury never falters. Though his positive attitude through this tragedy is inspiring, the coming weeks and months will present massive life changes for Steve and his family.
Much is unknown right now and we don't fully know what costs will be incurred, but we do know it will be a financial burden for the family. Anything you donate will be well used and gratefully received.
Upcoming expenses :
● Renovating Steve and Annette's current house to be wheelchair accessible and handicap friendly.
Providing equipment and living spaces which allow Steve safety, independence, and comfort. This will run in the tens of thousands of dollars. Local friends and contractors have begun assessing what needs to be done.
● Out-of-pocket expenses for medical or caregiver services that insurance will not pay for, which could also potentially add tens of thousands of dollars in the coming months.
Again, these are only examples of possible expenses, since much is yet unknown.
Please help Steve resume a healthy, independent, and productive life.
Thank you for your love, prayers, and support!
