Martinez Family

Donation protected
On 9/27/2020 one of our Probationary Fire Fighters Joe Martinez was involved in an off-duty UTV accident. He had his 4-year-old son with him, and he was not injured in the incident. However, Martinez sustained a severe injury to his left arm requiring a tourniquet to be placed and flown to the Trauma Center by Care Flight. Thankfully, he was with other off-duty firemen and they acted like they always do and provided the best care possible.

The Doctor’s at Renown worked on Martinez for 6 hours and miraculously saved his arm. Joe is still in the Trauma ICU but stable. He has an extensive recovery ahead of him and we want to make sure the necessary items are provided to his family during this process. Joe will undergo several future surgeries to repair his arm and get him back to fit for duty. Unfortunately, being newly hired, Joe doesn't have much sick leave with no time frame of when he can return to work.

Storey County Professional Fire Fighters are asking for your support to help this fire family in their time of need. Joe's Wife Cara is a Registered Nurse and this family is dedicated to public service! Let's show them what this community will do when it comes to caring for our first responders and their family!
