Hello, my name is Veronica. My mother, Debbie Thompson, is currently fighting for her life and is in need of a liver transplant within 60 days. They considered her multi-organ failure, but we have had some change in numbers to hold her stable. The medical facility she has been in the ICU at is not able to accommodate her needs, and she needs to be transported to another facility, a university hospital that has multiple teams to treat heart failure, liver failure, lung failure, and kidney failure. As they have worked to get these things better one at a time, the need is great for the liver as it can stop the other things from happening. I am an only child, and I am the one that needs to make the medical decisions and stay on top of this ever-changing situation. There is no time line on how long I will have to be with her and the goal is to care for her at my home if she is able to get a transplant and those cost will be out of network. I'm 600 miles from home, and I need assistance with lodging, food, gas, etc., and her medical bills that are now coming in. We are in works for a transfer to UAB, UNC, Vanderbilt, Atlanta, Charleston or any transplant hospital that has bed availability. She cannot make it far for transport. They want long-term acute care, but I continue to push for a higher level of care because that's what can get her what she needs, not being parked at an LTAC and missing her transplant window. We greatly appreciate anything you can give, financial or prayers. She was admitted on May 12th, but she is hanging in there.
