Anna’s Road To Recovery

Anna has applied to become a volunteer firefighter in Belleville and as part of the process a medical assessment was required. This testing revealed she has a rare congenital heart condition called Wolfe Parkinson’s White Syndrome. Finding out that she had a heart condition was a shock for both herself and her family. If you know her you know that she loves fitness and sports. She is a personal trainer, she plays goalie in hockey multiple times per week, she works out religiously and sports has been apart of who she is.

Anna’s surgery was performed July 10th. Unknown to her, and her family, there were significant post surgery complications. The last two months have been absolute chaos for herself and her family. She is now 8 weeks into what was supposed to be a 5 day recovery. After a month in Belleville General with no progress Anna was transferred to Kingston General’s Cardiac wing where she remains in care with debilitating pain and shortness of breath.

All this could not have happened at a worse time as Anna and her spouse have just bought their dream home in the country. On August 11th they took possession of their new home, as Anna watched from her hospital bed.And, as if more

stress and uncertainty needed to be added in, the offer and sale of Anna’s old house had fallen through.

So here they are.. one income, two mortgages, and an extended hospital stay with no guide as to how long they would need to carry this.

It’s been 56 days since her surgery and 35 days and counting admitted to hospital.

Anna will be off work for an extended period of time and with that comes the financial burden.
