Help Tim (Melvin Strangefellow) Fight Cancer
Donation protected
Thank you for stopping by! My name is Trish and this fundraiser is in support of Tim Rose, aka Melvin Strangefellow, my cousin, who was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in May of this year.
The cancer originated from a tumor in his right lung. It has spread to the lymph nodes and the T5 vertebrae. We are told this type of cancer is commonly genetic. Tim has been through numerous procedures and doctor's appointments over the past six weeks to determine the extensiveness of the cancer and to develop a treatment plan with his team of medical professionals.
Good news! The cancer is not in his brain and is localized in the chest/thoracic area. Tim has a "port" installed to help with the administration of chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
His body's response to these initial treatments will determine the next steps and also the fate of his employment with Boeing, a dream job he started back in December 2018. He will be using the last of his sick leave and PTO this month (June). Tim's passion for performing as Melvin Strangefellow in Melvins Magical Jester Show is also on hold, mostly due to COVID but cancer and side effects do not help any.
Tim's team of medical professionals have not provided a "timeline" which brings additional unknowns and uncertainties when there is already so much disruption. What has been communicated is there is no cure, but even with that there are unknowns... so for now, we simply hope and pray for the best possible outcome to treatment.
Tim is not one who would opening ask for help even if he knows he needs it, so here we are. Here are ways you can help!
1) Donate to this fundraiser. Go Fund Me does have a processing fee for credit cards (2-3%, this is a standard rate which is usually built into online transactions) and a $0.30 per donation charge that goes to Go Fund Me for hosting this site and related expenses. Any amount helps. It will go straight to Tim.
2) If you prefer to donate/send a care package directly, you can send it straight to Tim. If you do not have his mailing address, let me know and I'll get it to you (you can contact me through this Go Fund Me page).
3) Local? Bring over some food! Preferably something that can be frozen. You can coordinate with Tim via Facebook or other means you may have (I don't want to post his personal contact information everywhere).
4) Or look at a GrubHub/DoorDash gift certificate. You'll need his email address to send him an online certificate for food. Again, reach out through this page and I'll get you his email address.
5) Have another way you want to help? Great! Reach out. I know Tim would appreciate it.
Updates will be provided when appropriate and approved by Tim. Thank you for reading through and helping in whatever way you can.
