The ENFORCE study in the Netherlands is investigating whether testosterone gel improves the sexual recovery of men with low testosterone after prostate removal, compared to a placebo. The study also examines the effect of testosterone on urine retention and the chance of prostate cancer recurrence.
The hypothesis is that improving the testosterone level can assist in the recovery of sexual functions after treatment. There are indications that testosterone therapy after surgery can help reduce the recurrence of prostate cancer. Despite the potential benefits, the use of testosterone therapy after surgery remains limited.
The Dutch Cancer Society (KWF Kankerbestrijding) is investing a large amount in the ENFORCE study, but it doesn't stop there. Much more money is needed to properly conduct the research and because every little bit helps, the team of Mayumana Healthcare BV. and some colleagues from the CWZ Hospital in Nijmegen are participating in the Leiden Marathon at the 12th of May 2024, to raise money for the ENFORCE study.
