While on a family vacation to go skiing in Wyoming on Christmas, Nick sustained a traumatic brain injury where he lost consciousness and memory. Since then we have been working with a team of doctors to support him with the traumatic brain injury. He has undergone many tests, such as MRI’s, nerve tests, injections, and CT scans. We have seen many doctors to get the best care possible. We were blessed to get into a great neurologist in Omaha who will continue his long term care and medication management. Nick has been through a multitude of medicine to help treat his constant headaches but some of these have caused ER visits after racing heart rates and unstable blood pressure. He will be having surgery on July 31st. After many months of waiting, he was accepted into Madonna Rehab Hospital outpatient therapy program in May. Since then we have been traveling to Lincoln twice a week where he works with speech therapist to regain memory, vision therapy along with their neurovision specialist to work on getting his eyes to communicate with his brain effectively, and two types of physical therapy that work on balance and coordination to walk and to relieve pressure on the brain stem and loosen muscles in the neck and shoulders to help him relax. This has been a long journey for our family. We appreciate any type of support to help with the medical expenses that are accumulating as well as travel expenses.
