UPDATE:
Thank you all for the generosity and support. The insurance companies are not coming through like they were supposed too and it put us in a bind, as I sort through the documents they require and more records. The good news is that UW admissions Coordinator is submitting for Insurance authorization on Tuesday that is tomorrow the September 3rd. Aaron has not needed oxygen to breathe for now 8 days and he is becoming more and more coherent. He is still unable to read or look at a screen for too long because they just told him he has a hematoma behind his right eye. He was wondering why he was getting blurry and dizzy. No one told him. He has to close one eye. So he asked for a ophthalmologist and the dr said oh it will fix itself. This is an internal Medicine MD. So we shall see. We were able to meet rent and partial deposit. We have several big bills coming and are just so grateful for the support until I sort out the insurance and his disability which also was calculated incorrectly. Tomorrow is going to be a lot of phone time on breaks.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Near the end of July, Aaron, Pejie’s husband was in a nearly fatal motorcycle accident. After many life-saving procedures, he thankfully survived. Stabilizing Aaron has been tough, but he is a fighter.
Finally, out of ICU, they wait for a rehab bed in another facility for a few weeks and then hopefully he can go home. Aaron is paralyzed and has a brain injury. Life is going to be very different now.
The temporary home they are in while they search for a new home needs to be able to accommodate him. He also needs to continue receiving 24-hour monitoring from a caregiver/nurse.
Pejie is not only working full time but caring for their home, making sure Aaron’s elderly mother has what she needs while offering additional emotional support for her during this time. She is handling the loads of paperwork and questions coming from all directions, all the while trying to comfort her husband and advocating for only the best care.
She isn’t sleeping much and is now in a time crunch. Medical and personal bills are due NOW and she is desperately trying to do this alone. I had to twist her arm to allow me to ask our community for help. She is very proud but feeling exhausted and defeated.
Friends and family, please offer any amount you can afford. Literally, EVERY penny counts right now. Thank you so much in advance.
