Hi Guys!
It’s Lou . I unfortunately just found out that I have a a Mastocytoma growing on my ankle. This is a mast cell tumor that grows in different connective tissue layers. Normally mast cells work to help your immune system respond well to foreign pathogens. While up to 25% of older dogs can have this diagnosis. It can become malignant, extremely aggresive, and spread if not treated.
As of now, my doctor thinks it would be best treated by surgical excision to stage and grade the cancer. Because the mass is in a unique location, it can be difficult to remove all of it and I may have to receive chemotherapy and/or localized radiation therapy. But I believe I’m in good hands with my awesome docs and parents Alex & Ben. My 2 week recovery will hopefully be smooth and positive.
If you have the means, any contribution you can afford will go a long way and mean the world to my family.
My parents will post updates along this journey. And if you would like to come spend time with me while I’m recovering, that would make me the happiest pup !
Lots of Woof & Love,
Lou
