In 1996, The Book Report Network launched with one site on AOL. Our goal: connecting readers with the books and authors they love.

Over the last 30 years, we have built a loyal audience of readers from across the country via our websites --- Bookreporter.com and ReadingGroupGuides.com --- and our well-read newsletters.

Since 2020, we have provided a robust series of virtual progams, including our popular "Bookaccino Live" book preview events, "Bookaccino Live" Book Group programs and the "Bookreporter Talks To" video/podcast series.

After very early rounds of angel investor funding, all of our expansion plans have been self-funded.

Today, we turn to our supportive community to help drive our next goal. We are launching this GoFundMe campaign to upgrade the antiquated back end on our sites, as well as redesign them to meet the needs of today's readers.

Our goal --- to raise $75,000 --- will enable us to upgrade our technology and support our virtual programming.

Website Redesign

We plan to move our present websites to a WordPress multi-site platform. We have identified how to approach this project with a plan for it to be completed by Q1 2027.

A redesign will mean that we can implement ideas both new and overdue:

• Our websites will be responsive across all devices, easily accessible from anywhere.

• We will improve search and internal functionality to give readers new ways to discover books.

• You will see better, fresher layouts with more visuals, giving us the opportunity to showcase books and authors more vividly.

• We will be able to present more and new content offerings.

Important Note: Our websites currently are built in Drupal 6, which was the platform of choice when we started our last redesign back in 2010. Drupal 6 is no longer supported. This upgrade is a necessary change, not an indulgent redesign. Without it, we are restricted in functionality and speed of content delivery. This has been frustrating for us, and we know it is for our loyal readers as well.

Support for Virtual Programming, Including Events and Videos/Podcasts

Delivering free programming like our "Bookaccino Live" and "Bookaccino Live" Book Group events, as well as our "Bookreporter Talks To" video/podcast series, has costs on the backend. We would like to cover those costs with your support.
