Coleman Newton is an adventurous 30 year old Colorado native, born in Glenwood Springs. He was introduced to caving at a very young age and it became a life focus. Cole is a caver (National Speleological Society member for 30 years), canyoneer and climber. He has enjoyed sharing the knowledge he has acquired by educating and teaching others. Through his guidance, many in the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond have been able to enjoy those experiences. His sharing of these special places with others means a lot to Cole. His goal is to get healed so he can continue with the camaraderie that he has enjoyed through his passions. The Western United States has been his primary focus for exploration. His determination, hard work and curiosity took him to other countries as well to experience international caving.
Unfortunately, on September 4th, 2023, there was an accident while traversing a slot canyon that flows to the Colorado River, accompanied by a friend. The anchor for the last repel was not secured properly resulting in a fall. Cole fell approximately 50 feet shattering the right side of his body, resulting in serious injury requiring hospitalization and surgeries. Cole will also be receiving extensive rehabilitation services to get him on his feet. Your financial support would be greatly appreciated to help cover medical deductibles and rehabilitation expenses. The recovery will be a long and unfortunately an expensive process. Thank you for assisting with whatever you can donate. We are wishing for him a fast and speedy recovery, so he can get back out there and continue guiding and adventuring throughout the world.
