Sweet Brandon's Final Resting Place

Back in the 2008-2009 school year, I was lucky enough to be Brandon Martinez's teacher. He was an amazing addition to our classroom and was considered "in remission" from his battle with Leukemia the year prior. As Brandon transitioned back into the classroom setting, he gained many friends and won the heart of his teacher, me (along with many others)! He was kind, intelligent, and a joy to be around. Unfortunately, while in 4th grade, Brandon relapsed. This time he was not so lucky with the battle and sadly, he passed away on June 25, 2011 the summer after 5th grade.
It was a difficult loss for all, especially his loving parents and 2 younger brothers. I have since taught his younger brother, Alfonso, and hope to be getting his other brother, Samuel, next year. This family has such a special place in my heart so when I learned this week that the family had not been able to afford Brandon's headstone yet, my heart was crushed. I thought that I must do something to help. So here I am asking my dear friends and colleagues to help as well. This family is such a beautiful family and I hope to give them what they need.
