Rallying Support For Hero Fitness Coach/Hero Dad

Robs fitness journey began long before we met in college in 2006.  Overweight his entire adolescent years, Rob has wrestled, overcome and relentlessly trudged through laughs, jokes and constant banter of which most would have crumbled along the way.  The stories he’s shared are somewhat unbelievable.   But he never focuses on the struggle, only the positive of what he’s learned and the better person he has become because of his experience.  He always says that he went through that period and many other wastelands to prepare him for the lives he has impacted and has yet to impact in the years to come.     Rob is quick to remind us and his clients that one’s self-image is determined by life’s victories and life’s defeats.  At age 13, 5’8” and over 335 pounds having back aches, wearing XXXL clothes and dealing with sore joints weren’t exactly putting check marks in his “life victory” column.

Rob grew up in a broken home with divorced parents, single wide trailer, and his weight struggle was the icing on the cake.  Robs motto is if you want to change, something has to change so in search of solutions, it only took one person to lead him into the gym after school one day and that one day lead to another and another and eventually a positive addiction to replace the poor food choices and sedentary lifestyle.  It’d be easy to say the rest is history but that’s simply not true.  From then until today and the years to come Rob is creating history and impacting the community around us.  Rob’s contagious smile, passionate love for people, huge heart for family and dauntless work ethic and persistence is what made me fall in love with him many years ago and why I and others are rallying around this surgery for him.

Since the first day we met in college Rob has always been others-centered.  He goes out of his way to make sure that his family, partners, clients, friends and strangers needs are met before he even thinks of himself and as a result has pushed some of his dreams and goals to the side.   He is absolutely a servant leader and has always provided for me and now our three beautiful kids, Ethan 4, Emma 2 and Gunnar 6 months.  Because of him I have been blessed to be a stay at home mom with our little champions.  He has been a personal trainer for over 10 years and currently owns a private personal training business (Your Home Personal Trainer, urhomept.com).  By the grace of God I believe Rob’s passion to train others and mentor young individuals is a vessel of hope and inspiration and has created a ripple effect touching youths and adults alike, making an impact for change in the health and wellness arena.  For what he has become and overcome and is committed to continue to do for the rest of his life is the ultimate excuse eliminator for many.

He teaches his clients that by focusing on the process you can get the victory. By enjoying the process or baby steps that it will give you hope and that power of hope will energize you and motivate you to go beyond your mental limits and pushing one far past what they thought was ever possible. Rob doesn’t just train his clients, he genuinely cares for each of them, coming home telling me about each and every one of his clients goals and stories and how he’s excited to help them and how we can be a part of creating their success story.  Rob has impacted so many and has left an impact not only on his friends and family, but clients he has taken under his wing and loves. He understands that a changed life creates change in that person’s circle of influence and by "paying it forward" optimal health and impacting people doesn't stop at the end of a workout session.

The purpose of this GoFundMe campaign is to rally support for a skin removal surgery as a surprise for Rob.  The result of losing over 120lbs has left him with an excess amount of  skin in the abdomen and knowing Rob would never ask for this himself I wanted to reach out and ask people to be a part of his success story.  I am asking for donations because I know how much this surgery means to him, but his duties as a husband, father, business owner and coach are his top priorities. I hope Robs story can encourage others to want to be a part of the ripple effect I know he will have with or without the surgery but I know this is something he has wanted for more than 10 years- but he has always been others focused.  Robs passion for CrossFit and running alone has elevated the past few years to a place I have never seen I always hear him say that the excess skin “gets in the way” and at times hurts to do certain movements so I’ve made it my mission to make this surgery happen for him in time for his birthday this July.

We have a saying in our house “to be a blessing.”  Our daughter says it best whenever daddy leaves she says “bye daddy, have fun helping people, and to be a blessing.”  My husband is our hero and we want to keep his legacy going by having his story shared and the victory on the back end with this surgery to remove the excess skin he’s lived with since his weight loss over 15 years ago and a huge milestone completed in his self-fitness journey as he continues to be an influence in the fitness world.

Lastly I want everyone to know that this isn’t for Rob’s self-gain, but for a man who has delayed gratified for years to be a blessing to others and a man who continues to share his journey, experiences and struggles with victories with others as an example of everything they can do if not better than he if they just persist and stay consistent. Robs mission is “Fitness, Community, Family and the Next Generation and for his gym, to create an environment that is centered around community and impacting those around us in a positive way through fitness.  All are welcome, all are capable and all are accepted.  This is a family, welcome home.”

I know this man is unstoppable and will always have a drive to inspire others and I know with the excess skin removal it will only pour gas on the wild fire he has created to inspire that next person to be the next and better success story.

Thank you for thinking of us,

Alana
