Michelle O'toole was one of the funniest, sweetest, most wholesome and kind people on this planet. She always cared more about others than she did herself, and she was strong in both will and mind. She was fighting a myriad of issues which she ultimately couldn't continue fighting. She passed at 4:01pm on 12/20.
This post is graphic. It includes photos and includes a description of the events that happened.
Michelle said that she wasn't feeling well and was having trouble breathing. When our family came to bring her to the hospital we noticed that she was confused, was having trouble walking, and her skin was blue/purple and swollen.
Once she arrived at the hospital we found out that she had pneumonia and a staff infection that had spread to her blood. The blood infection affected her kidneys and she was in late stage kidney failure by the time she arrived. She was found to have 9% blood oxygen and was life-flighted to a hospital in Fort Dodge.
Over this time period she became unresponsive and the hospital staff was worried about brain damage from the low oxygen percentage and blood infection. They decided to put her in a medical coma to help bring her oxygen levels up. They did a CT scan and saw that she had indeed suffered from brain damage, and her kidneys were in such a bad state that she would need to start dialysis as soon as possible.
After this news her oxygen started dipping drastically and we were able to come together and say our goodbyes to our beloved Shell.
Michelle was the mother of 4 children. She didn't have life insurance, a 401k, or any sort of savings to help with end stage life decisions. This all was completely unexpected and happened abruptly, over the course of just a couple of days.
Any help would be greatly appreciated to help to pay for funeral expenses and cremation costs. If you're unable to donate please share this to the people who know and love her. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time for us.
