Uyghur Academy Boston Sunday School

We are raising money to form a Uyghur language book library in the Boston area for Uyghur children and Uyghur language learners. This library will support Uyghur language schools and people who are interested in learning the Uyghur language. Our efforts are in response to the current dire situation of Uyghurs under the brutal repression of the Chinese government. Uyghurs are a Turkic-speaking ethnic group living in East Turkestan (also known as the Xinjiang region) in China. The majority of the Uyghurs practice Islam and as a result of their distinct ethnic and religious identity, the Uyghur community is being targeted by the Chinese government. The Chinese government has established concentration camps and has unjustly imprisoned many Uyghurs and sought to eradicate the Uyghur culture. As part of our efforts to support Uyghurs during this time, we want to help maintain the cultural continuation of the community by forming a Uyghur language book library where Uyghur children and Uyghur language learners can use books to learn the Uyghur language. Your support of the Uyghur book library project assists the great cause of preserving Uyghur culture and language and helps to share knowledge about the Uyghurs’ history, way of life, and culture. We aim to raise funds to support the costs of the children’s books in the Uyghur language.
