My Father's Funeral
Donation protected
It is very difficult for us to ask anyone for help in this time of need. My father was in bad health since March of 2018, and after several doctor's appointments, in November of 2019, he discovered he had 3 clogged arteries to his heart. (1) artery created it's own bypass, but the other 2 arteries required stents. After this procedure, his health started steadily declining to the point he could only leave his bed for short periods of time, could not remember stuff and could not communicate clearly. He went through more tests and found out he had another clogged artery in his neck. This was the main artery that carried oxygen to his brain. He had surgery to fix this on June 1st. At first, he did well, but then he lost all cognitive function and he could not walk and was not able to think or talk clearly. On June 10th, he passed away peacefully while sleeping.
My mom stayed by my dad's side and cared for my dad every single day since November of 2019. After March, my mom could no longer leave my dad alone. I drove from Raleigh to Stovall weekly to pick up his prescriptions and take them groceries so she could care for him around the clock while also avoiding COVID risks.
He was a small business owner with just (1) employee, so most of the work was done by him. He closed his business back in November with full intentions of getting better and getting back to work. He made lists of all of the stuff he was going to accomplish as soon as he was well, but he never got better.
He was the sole provider for my mom, because she is disabled. He had no life insurance, and now we are all trying to come up with money for his funeral expenses and headstone. Just the basic funeral expenses alone (without the headstone) are over $12,000, because due to his size, he has to have an over-sized casket and vault.
We have already received a very generous donation that is helping a lot, but have a lot of money to come up with to cover it all. The funeral home does not allow payment plans and has asked all funds be paid within 30 days for the funeral portion due. Any funds raised will pay for the rest of the funeral costs, his headstone and my mom's burial plot, that she had to purchase at the same time while it was available, so she could be laid to rest by his side.
We are so grateful and appreciative of any amount anyone can help with. Even the smallest amount will ease the burden on my family so much during this already very difficult time.
