Support Mindy's Journey to Recovery

Hi there,

I’m making this GoFundMe to hopefully raise funds for my Mom Mindy, who is recently recovering from spinal surgery.

My mom walked into surgery two weeks ago for a spinal fusion . We were hoping to regain more function in her legs and give her a better quality of life with continuous back and leg pain.

She unfortunately wasn’t given that opportunity when she awoke to being paralyzed from the knee down. Terrified, confused, and in pain, she hasn’t lost her spark. She’s still trying her best to keep a smile on her face, although there’s no promise she’ll regain true mobility again.

Although her doctors are still puzzled by the paralysis, that isn’t stopping her.

She has been at Sparrow's Mary Free Bed, working her butt off to get home. Every day she has therapy in hopes of gaining independence when going home, while trying to “wake up” her legs.

My stepdad Ali has had to take off work to be by her side day in and day out, which has taken a huge hit financially. The goal is that she can come home next week and continue in-home therapy between PT, OT, and nurse visits.

Those who have encountered my mom know she is the person who would give the shirt off her back. She’s the realtor of Lansing who will work with anyone, no matter the amount of money they have. She’s the Gigi of the century to her “grandboos.” She gives to those in need constantly.

She has a really long road to recovery. Between her and my stepdad missing work, they have the expenses now of building new entrances to the front door and making her home more accessible for the things she now brings home.

I’m hoping to raise money to take the burden off her and my stepdad if they need food, money to pay bills, new accessible items for the home, etc.
