Thank you for taking the time to read our story
Darcy was born on the 2nd December 2016 with Pulmonary atresia. VSD. Tetralogy a Fallots. Imperforate anus and a rare condition called clocoa. Life is very complex daily. Surgery after surgery. Treatment daily. Long periods of time in hospital.
17th December this year Darcy will be having heart surgery, then followed by open heart surgery, then more bowel surgery. As a soul single parent the mental, physical, emotional and financial load of all this is tough. Beyond tough.
I want to start up the charity " Doin it for Darc". That's why have set up this page. To help other people in our situation. To help parents, and carers including us. To help children who live with disabilities life a bit easier. To be a support network. To have a place online or in person for people to come, and to not feel alone. It can be a very lonely road while your watching the rest of the world live. Sometimes you never know how long you will be in hospital, so planning is just non existent. The load is a heavy one.
I have personally had times when I have been living off credit cards to support our life. To not know how my bills will be paid. To not know when I will be back at work. I would like people to not have to worry at the hardest time of their lives. About things like money. Food, and a hug when they need it the most. To have the chance for people to have their families by there side. When sometimes funds just won't allow it. I want to make life a little easier and kinder for those families going through dark periods of life. Who will always be going in and out of dark times.
So I've set a mission while we are in hospital to get this going. To raise as much as I possibly can to start the charity in honour of my daughter ( which also costs money). Darcy who is the bravest warrior I know and I'm doing this for you. As an advocate for disabilities this is so important to me. Because I live it, and I watch others live it. I just want to make it easier. There isn't much help out there. There's a few pence the government may throw you, but the rest is just a whole load of worry, stress and hard times.
So if you have a minute, and would like to support families like ours, and hundreds more out there. We would be so enterally gratefully. You'd really be making a difference to people's life's who fight everyday.
To all the people struggling, keep fighting. We will keep fighting for you too.
Much love
