Many of you will remember my last go fund me page for the Munoz Family, around August 2015, when Beatrice Munoz lost her long battle with Cancer. With great saddness, I am now asking for help as my great friend Lizzette starts planning a funeral for her beloved Father.
Luis Fernando Munoz has been battling Diabetes for over 15 years. About 5 years ago, Luis developed a retinal detachment on both his eyes. The first doctor Lizzette, took her dad to see said he lost his vision, so there was nothing he could do for him. A second opinion was given, and that doctor was charging too much & she just could not afford it. Lizzette did not give up on her dad. She did some research & found a doctor that was willing to help him. The only problem was that he was in another country. Lizzette worked tiredlessly to make this trip happen for her loving father. When he finally made the trip to Colombia, the surgery was preformed although the doctor said it was too late since they had waited almost a year before she was able to gather the money together for both his trip & the surgery. Luis spent almost a year in Colombia afterwards because his daughter didn't have the money to bring him back home.
When Luis finally came back home, he was legally blind from both eyes. He lost his job and could not renew his license. Therefore, he was homebound all day until Lizzette came home to take him out for fresh air. The bills kept piling up & Lizzette became the sole provider of their household. Not only did she have her fathers medical expenses but her moms as well. After her beloved Mother Beatrice, passed away in August 2015, her father's health started to decline. Lizzette & her dad became regualrs at the hospital, as he was in & out constantly.
Come April, Luis began having chest & leg pains. The doctors determined he had poor circulation, mostly in his legs. They were not able to perform heart surgery due to his overall poor health. They were afraid it would lead into kidney failure. In early June, Luis's left leg had to get amputated below the knee. His surgery did not go well, he went into cardiac arrest three times. A month later, the scar tissue got badly infection that the doctors had to amputate yet again. This time they went above the knee. Shortly after, his kidneys started to shut down, so the doctors started him on dialysis. In August, Luis's second leg was amputated due to gangrene.
Luis has not been home since April. He has gone from hosptial to rehab center to hosptial back to the rehab center. This past Wednesday, Lizzette received a call from her dad's doctor. He asked her to come in to sign his DNR paperwork & to prepare for his funeral. He said it could be anyday now.
I, Nicole Parra, am here once again to ask for your help in raising money to help with the funeral expenses for Luis Fernando Munoz. The family has been through enough pain, despair, tears, heartache... I can go on. Any amount we raise together to help this family would be greatly appreciated & God would Bless you back tenfold. Lizzette is one of the hardest working, responsible, strong young woman I know. She has had to carry a huge financial burden many young people could never imagine, since her teen years. The page will remain open until further notice. Thank you all & God Bless you & your families!!! Remeber to hold them tight & not take them for granted. We are here now, but tomorrow is not promised!
