Hi. I am Josh Swope's aunt Nancy.
Josh was recently diagnosed with stage IV melanoma.
A few weeks ago Josh went to the emergency room for severe abdominal pain. His abdomen had to be drained of fluid before he received any relief from the pain. A CT scan showed a tumor on his liver and spleen. More testing revealed a tumor on his lung. Josh was told he had stage IV cancer but the doctors did not yet know the primary site. When his wife Brandi arrived at the hospital in St. Joseph MO she remembered the sore on Josh's arm that had been looked at in the past at two different medical facilities and he was told it was nothing to worry about. So a biopsy was performed which was positive for melanoma. That is the primary source.
Josh has been an over the road truck driver for many years and now he is unable to work. When his job was over so was his insurance.

The doctors at Barnes are expected to start treatment very soon. They were waiting to get the medical records from the hospital in St. Joe which they now have.
Josh and Brandi are an amazing couple. It is painful for their family and friends to see them going through such a difficult time. Besides the obvious emotional turmoil of such a shocking diagnosis they are also dealing with mounting medical bills and no more paycheck for everyday living expenses. Any donations and prayers for Josh and Brandi will most certainly be appreciated.
