Ellie's Recovery

On Thursday,  April 11th Ellie's normal 21-year old life took a sudden change of direction while she was at a breakfast when she suddenly felt off and moments later went paralyzed in her legs.  10 hours of tests and scans ensued in the ER while doctors tried to figure out how something like this could happen to a healthy and active "kid."  Ellie spent the following days in the PCU while tests results continued to come in and she began the intense process of learning how to use her legs again.  Each day saw positive improvement and that Ellie smile glowed at each little success from wiggling her toes, to walking with a walker.  God had her wrapped in his arms and she started the path to recovery.  Six days later she was welcomed to RIO - an acute rehab facility in Portland.  There she received the most amazing care from their team and within just a couple days she was taking steps on her own.   She is now back home and continuing out patient therapy 2 times a week as well as working diligently on her 'homework' therapy to give herself every chance at a full recovery.  Many more doctor visits await in the future and while we seek answers to the why, we trust in the Lord that through time they will come, but for now the focus continues to be on recovery.  

Anything you are able to contribute will be a huge relief to Ellie as she starts nursing school in August.  She has been saving in hopes to be able to focus on school 100% and not have to work during her 18month program.  Your support at any level is more than appreciated as she awaits the numerous medical bills which will start flowing in.
