After losing my health, my home, and my marriage, I’m asking for help to hold on to hope.
My name it's Julie, and I am a 50-year-old woman learning to navigate some of the hardest challenges of my life. Recently, I was diagnosed with both a brain cyst and a subdural hematoma. I now rely on a cane to walk and am waiting months for an appointment with a neurologist.
Adding to these struggles, my marriage recently ended after my husband left me for someone else. It’s been painful to lose that support, but I am determined to keep moving forward and rebuild my life step by step.
Right now, I am living in my compact car, which also needs repairs. I shower at the gym, and because I can’t cook, I rely on non-perishable foods. My health prevents me from working, and I have already exhausted state disability benefits. The path to federal assistance is long, leaving me without help for basic needs.
I’ve applied for programs, but I am often denied because I’m considered “housed” - even though living in my car is far from safe or stable. Right now, I just need help with essentials like food, fuel, phone service, laundry, toiletries, and storage fees.
Your kindness could be the bridge that helps me through this difficult time and gives me the chance to focus on healing, not just surviving. Even $5 makes a real difference, and if you can’t donate, simply sharing my story helps more than you know. Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping me believe that brighter days are still ahead.
