Supporting Stacey Through Her Battle with Stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma

Last week, our hearts were shattered as we received devastating news: our dear friend Stacey has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma.

What We Know

Two years ago, Stacey had melanoma removed from her shoulder at Sutter Medical Center. At the time, doctors were confident they had successfully removed all traces of the cancer. Sadly, the melanoma has returned and spread throughout her body.

In August, Stacey began experiencing unbearable pain and went to the emergency room. CT scans revealed several tumors. After a PET scan and multiple biopsies, doctors confirmed that the cancer has progressed to Stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma.

This means the cancer has spread to multiple areas — including her lungs, lymph nodes, liver, both adrenal glands, and a mass in her right shoulder. Thanks to medication, her pain is now somewhat under control.

Treatment Plan

Stacey’s medical team began immunotherapy immediately in an effort to stop the spread of this aggressive cancer. Radiation therapy will soon begin to help shrink a large tumor located near her kidney and pancreas.

The road ahead is difficult, but Stacey is determined to fight with everything she has.
