UWSOM COVID Home Care Packages
Donation protected
We are a group of University of Washington medical students working to assemble “home care packages” for patients currently ill with COVID-19. We’re working closely with nurses at UW Medicine clinics to identify patients with an immediate need for these packages who otherwise do not have a way to get supplies to care for their illness.
Medical students will prepare and deliver packages to these patients who are sick and cannot leave their homes, do not have care support, or are immunocompromised.
Our initial goal is to create and deliver 100 packages to patients in need. We ultimately hope to receive enough funding to serve as many patients as have requested assistance, and that need is expanding daily.
Each package will include the following items, dependent on store availability and patient need:
Thermometer
Acetaminophen (Tylenol)
Guaifenesin (Mucinex)
Pedialyte
Throat coat herbal tea
Topical chest rub (Vicks VapoRub)
Funds may also be used to purchase gloves, hand sanitizer, and Ziploc bags for preparing the packages.
If you want to help, please consider contributing to our fund to purchase the supplies for these packages. All proceeds will go to this project. (In the case that there are unused funds, they will be donated to the UW Medicine Service Learning Fund for other student-led initiatives, or to the greater UW Medicine COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund.)
If you do not feel comfortable donating to us directly, please consider donating to the UW Medicine COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund.
Thank you so much for your support! Feel free to reach out with any questions, and check back here for updates on our progress.
