The UW-Madison Sustainable Solutions Team is honored to represent the Western Great Lakes Region at the 2025 ASCE Student Championship in San Luis Obispo, California, where we will showcase our work in sustainable site design alongside top student engineers from across the country.

This year’s challenge focused on the redevelopment of an underutilized office building site into a vibrant mixed-use residential and retail community. Our team was tasked with designing sustainable infrastructure for the site, and we concentrated specifically on enhancing quality of life for future residents while prioritizing environmental resilience and long-term sustainability. From green stormwater infrastructure to multimodal transportation access, our proposal integrates innovative civil engineering solutions with thoughtful community planning.
