Spelman Student Thesis Film Fund

Hi everyone! My name is Egypt Noboa and I am very excited to announce my senior thesis dance film: "E is for Existential Dread". As I approach the end of my Senior year at Spelman College, I will be choreographing and directing this dance film, but I need some financial assistance for the production and post-production of the work. My goal is to raise $3000 over the next 30 days to fully fund the film.

 

About the Project

"E is for Existential Dread" is a visual account of the anxiety and depression that affects black women through the collaborative conversation of Spelman college and AUC students.

Over the past four years at Spelman College, the conversation of mental health surrounding Black women has been a bedroom topic. The overbearing weight of competition, success and the need to produce is a sensation that many students share, especially during a global pandemic. Although the college offers services for students, these services remain inaccessible and few.

 

About Me

I am graduating Senior Dance Performance & Choreography major and growing local Atlanta dancer and choreographer. Academically, I am on track to graduate Magna Cum Laude, have been on the Dean's List, served on Sophomore Class Council, and participated in food security, clean-ups, and mentorship community service through the SKIRTS organization. As an artist, I create work that explores society, choreograph dance pieces rooted in activism for racial and class oppression, LGBTQ+ community, and women's rights. While at Spelman I have connected my scholarship and artistry through participation in The Georgia Incarceration Performance Project discussing the slave to prison pipeline. I am a choreographer for The AUC Agency and an E-board member for BLISS Mentorship program where I use dance to discuss black self-love and self-esteem.
