UWF Solar Car Team 2022 Formula Sun Grand Prix

Donation protected
The University of West Florida (UWF) Solar Car Team is a student-led non-profit organization whose goal is to contribute to the advancement of eco-friendly alternatives to traditional fossil fuel powered vehicles by designing and building a solar-powered vehicle to compete in the American Solar Challenge series of automotive races.

Our team is looking for support to cover the costs of the solar cell array ($2500) and the Track Fee ($3900) for the 2022 Formula Sun Grand Prix, which will be held at the Heartland Motorsports Park in Topeka, KS in July 2022.

Our team is one of the student teams in the Enterprise Program in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at UWF. With the support of the university, faculty, and community, especially Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering, our team has successfully completed the design and construction of the frame, suspension system, steering system, electrical control system, drivetrain, and shell, etc. The only major component to be completed is the solar cell array.

Our team has raised money for the $1,850 Initial Entry Fee for the 2022 Formula Sun Grand Prix. And we are expected to receive UWF Office of Undergraduate Research Travel Awards to cover the travel expenses.
