UW Alpha Gamma Delta Philanthropy

Since 1909, Alpha Gamma Delta Women's Fraternity has dedicated its philanthropic activities to supporting diabetes research/education through the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation. The Iota chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta at the University of Washington decided to take its philanthropic activities one step further by involving the local community as well. Iota Chapter recognized the staggering statistics involving youth in foster care, with about 400,000 children in the United States living without permanent families in the foster care system, and decided that its efforts should also be concentrated on the local Seattle organization, Treehouse for Kids. 

Treehouse for Kids is an organization dedicated to helping youth in foster care secure the essential education, basic material needs, and social experiences they equally deserve. In regards to diabetes, about 29.1 million Americans suffer from the disease,  which affects blood sugar levels and can lead to detrimental problems such as damage to eyes, kidneys, nerves, heart disease, stroke, and even the need to remove a limb. Alpha Gamma Delta has shown its genuine concern for these causes through both monetary and volunteer support. Each year, Alpha Gamma Delta has 85+ members participate in the Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes. In addition, members assist Treehouse for Kids staff in sorting through material donations and donating clothes themselves. 

We are asking for your support to help these organizations change the lives of  youth in foster care and the lives of those affected by diabetes. Our hope is that your donation contributed with ours will have the ability to brighten one child's day and bring us one step closer to finding a cure for diabetes. 

Please join us in our journey to raise $100,000 for Treehouse for Kids and diabetes research/education by February 28, 2016. Though our end goal is large, each and every donation, no matter what amount, will make an incredible difference.
