I’m a teacher who has recently been diagnosed with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), in addition to existing disabilities related to POTS and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS). These conditions affect multiple systems in the body and require ongoing, specialized medical care.
Teaching is work I love and intend to continue, but managing these conditions has required more medical support than my coverage allows.
Following a workplace injury, my symptoms significantly worsened, leading to extensive testing, new medications, and frequent specialist visits. While workers’ compensation has covered part of my care, it does not cover everything required to manage these conditions. Many necessary treatments and medications fall outside of coverage, creating a growing financial gap.
As someone who continues working while managing chronic illness, the combination of medical costs, missed work, and uncovered care has become overwhelming. I’m creating this fundraiser to help cover out-of-pocket medical expenses, including specialist visits, prescriptions, testing, and related care that insurance and workers’ comp do not fully support.
Any contribution will go directly toward medical care and recovery. If you’re able to help, I’m deeply grateful. If not, sharing this page is just as appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read and for any support you can offer.
