Community Member Arrested for Supporting Abortion

UPDATE: Thanks so much to everyone for your generosity and support over the past few weeks! A black professor was arrested while counter-protesting an anti-abortion demonstration led by a TikTok preacher. (The community member was engaging in their capacity as a private citizen and was not speaking on behalf of any institution.) The unjust citation against our community member will be dismissed. And, the police department has opened an internal review of the professor’s complaints of excessive use of force during the arrest!

Because our community member will no longer need to support legal expenses, we are asking that any donors who would like to withdraw their donation do so as soon as possible. The GoFundMe will be used to cover incidental expenses incurred during their recovery. Any remaining funds will be donated in equal parts to Legal Action Wisconsin and the Dane County Rape Crisis Center. Thank you so much for the outpouring of support!
