These are the words that people kept sharing with us once they found out my mother had been called to heaven. There are no words to describe the pain and heartbreak we feel as a family in losing our mother Teresa Lemus Olivares.

Let us share with you a few stories that will give you a clearer picture of why those words were selected for my mother!

Strong:
In 1990 my mother decided to come to the United States to give her family a better life. She worked long hours to save enough money to go back to El Salvador and bring her 3 daughters (Silvia, Nohemy, and Vicki) to Los Angeles; a goal she accomplished In 1991. She worked as a housemaid for 32 years. The journey she took was not easy but she was a strong and courageous woman. She was like no other. My mother showed us how strong she was and we will remember that forever.

Generous:
My mother loved to help people, it seems that no request was too big. She would always send money for older people in her country who lived alone and had no one else to care for them. During Christmas time, she would send money to El Salvador to give kids a memorable Christmas. If anyone mentioned that they were having a hard time financially she always found a way to help that person. She was also generous with her church family and would always be cooking meals to take to her sisters in Christ. My mother was generous all her life and we will continue to honor that.

Hardworking:
Where do we being with this word? Wow! Everyday of her life she worked hard. My mother never stopped and we can not recall a day that she called out sick from work. She would always have a smile in the morning because she knew that God had allowed her another day to accomplish something new. She would work all day and then would come home to cook a feast, care for her grandchildren, and would go for walks around her neighborhood. We would constantly ask ourselves "How did she have so much energy?"

Beautiful:
She was beautiful inside and out. My mother always had fun stories to share. Whenever we had family gathering or celebrations her stories would make all of us laugh until we cried. She had a way of sharing stories that kept us wanting to hear more. She had a beautiful soul and everyone somehow was able to build a connection with her. She was very friendly and was thoughtful of others. She always had an encouraging word and that to us makes her a beautiful person inside and out.

This fund will help us to give my strong, generous, hardworking, and beautiful mother the funeral and burial she deserves. She told us before passing that she wanted lots of food at her funeral. We want to honor that! We appreciate all the support and help we have received from our close family and friends. Thank you so much. May God continue to bless you more and more everyday.

Muchas gracias. Que Dios continúe bendiciéndote cada día más.

Familia Olivares.
