We can all think back to a moment or time in our life when we were met with that gut wrenching feeling that left us feeling helpless or fearful of the answer to this question... "What now?"
Early Wednesday morning, February 24th 2016, that question sat heavy on the hearts and minds of the McGuire family. Their youngest of 4, Lex (7 years old) woke up to the unimaginable. His dog Bear had been chewing on his right foot.
For those of you who do not know Lex, he has been paralyzed from the waist down from birth which would explain why he did not feel anything taking place. His family said he is in stable condition at Ann & Robert H Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and they are waiting on further diagnosis from their Dr.
Amber, Alexander's mother, said "Lex is a trooper and he will come out of this stronger than before." Lex is a team member of the Chichago SKYHAWKS a wheelchair basketball team and a part of the wheelchair softball team for the Chicago Cubs. Mark, Lex's father, said that Lex's main concern at this point is the wellbeing of his dog Bear. He wants his dog to know that he is not mad at him and he hopes that his new family will love him just as much as he does.
Most of Alexander's medical bills will be covered, any money raised will help with day to day expenses for the family of 6 because Amber will need to miss 6-8 weeks of work to take care of Lex.
Please find it in your heart to pray along side of family and friends for a quick physical and emotional healing for the entire family.
