Support Mom's Battle Against Cancer

On February 6th mom was diagnosed with stage 2 lung cancer and scheduled for surgery to remove the cancer.
On March 12th she underwent her first lung surgery to remove the cancer on her left lung. After the operation, and removal of half of her left lung the doctors determined her cancer was non small cell lung cancer known as Adenocarcinoma.
Just when mom started to become her devilish self again, she went for her scheduled PET scan. The scan showed that the cancer has now moved to her right lung.
On September 17th, mom underwent another surgery to remove the cancer from her right lung.
From this point, mom never went back to herself.
Mom started forgetting stuff and getting extremely ill.
On September 30th mom called me that she couldn’t move and had to go to the ER. I took her to the ER immediately and from
St. Joes she was transferred to university of Maryland ICU with 2 BRAIN tumors that were 3cm and 1.5 both cancerous.
On October 3rd, mom underwent her first brain operation to remove the 3cm tumor from her brain. Unfortunately they couldn’t remove the whole tumor and couldn’t touch the second due to the severity.
On October 7th, mom was still experiencing sickness when they discovered her brain wasn’t draining properly!
On October 8th, they installed a permanent drain going from her brain to her belly to properly drain her spinal fluid.
FINALLY!!! Mom was released! My mom was home! Things were going to get easier!
Until they didn’t!
on October 22nd, my mom once again informed me she needed to go to the emergency room. She developed an infection in her right lung. They placed a chest tube and she stayed in the hospital for a little over a week. During her stay at University of Maryland she underwent 3 impatient radiation treatments to her brain.

When following up with the cancer doctor and advising that mom is now at a stage 4 cancer they also determined moms cancer is most likely not curable and she will be on a pill to attack the mutant in her blood stream causing the cancer to spread known as a EGFR mutant.

With moms on going treatment and prognosis, there is no say on when she will be able to go back to her every day activities. Treatment expenses are adding up as well as everyday expenses, any little bit will help as we battle this ongoing C word!
