Hi my name is Michaela Gould & I am writing this to you to ask for support as my dad fights for his life. My dads journey with cancer began suddenly. After losing some weight & his skin turning yellow, we rushed my dad to the emergency room, where they would put him into emergency surgery to get his gallbladder removed. Not knowing what the doctors would find, they did in fact find gallbladder cancer that had already spread throughout his body & to his brain. My mom and I, as well as the doctors were shocked because of this tragic life changing situation. We all couldn't believe the amount of cancer found in his body, considering just 1 week prior he was this super healthy, larger than life figure to our family and all those who know him. If you know anything about my father, he is always on the soccer field, an entrepreneur & the most amazing family man you’ll ever know.

Over the years, I have watched my dad touch people’s lives in more ways than my words could tell. When nobody watches, it's my dad who gives himself to others. Whether it be devoting himself to over 20 years of coaching young soccer players, to always giving a helping hand in a persons greatest time of need, it’s James who is always there for others. I can’t tell you how many times, I get stopped at a grocery store or Home Depot or just around our community, telling me what an amazing dad that I have. Often times, I hear stories of the little moments of my dad that have impacted so many people along the way. He is a mentor, a friend & the ultimate supporter. He is a champion for others & truly what it means to care about people. As I’ve grown, I’ve collected all of these precious moments of realizing the impact my dad has made on this world. He does not deserve what is happening to him, but you better believe he will not go down without a fight.

Unfortunately, this unexpected diagnosis has left our family unsure of how long we have with him. We are working with some of the greatest doctors in the world to heal him, but the kind of treatment my dad needs would cost our family $5000 a week. That is $240,000 a year and that is after insurance kicks in. We could have never imagined this expense, especially so unexpectedly. If anybody is bound for a miracle, it's my dad. We appreciate this community and all of the support. Every little gesture, text, phone call and prayer, means the world to us and helps us get through this heartbreaking time.
