On October 6th Darius Tyrese Chappell left the world too soon. At the age of 5, he had his whole life ahead of him.
He was a light in this world, and now we need to continue shining his light by carrying it within us in our own lives. This is a hard and tough pill to swallow. I am beyond hurt even the soles of my feet are hurting. Darius touched so many people and every adult that came in contact with him. Darius is and always will be my baby, he was my first child and he will be my last. He was my everything. God sent him on this earth to touch so many people Iives. Although he was only here for a short time he helped over a dozen people with their own grieving process including myself when I lost my grandmother. He was truly an angel who fulfilled a purpose according to God’s will. God called my baby home while he was sleeping peacefully next to me. I NEVER knew a child could love another human being as much as he loved me until I had him. His love was REAL and PURE. He missed my grandmother so much and told me how he wanted to see her again. He talked to me about Heaven and people passing away often. I know she met him
at the crossroads with open arms. He was such a intelligent, smart, funny and charismatic child. I used to always say he had a old soul and he had been here before. His last words before he took his eternal rest was ”Mommy, I feel better, I wanna go to school.” Baby boy you are with God, Mema and all our other family members who passed on already. I will never forget you baby, words can’t describe how much I love you. I will miss you always and you will forever be in my heart. I miss and love you unconditionally. Missing and loving you is a understatement. Darius was an amazing little boy, he was healthy, happy and full of life & love.
Luke 18:15-17
Now they were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them. And when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”
Matthew 19:14
But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”
On Monday October 3rd, Darius started the New Haven Parks and Recreation Co-Ed Basketball Clinic for age group 4-6. He was so excited. He said, “Next practice I’m going to make a basket mommy.” I said, “You sure are baby.”
Although we don’t want to say goodbye, we would love to give him the funeral he deserves, surrounded by his family and all those that loved him.
Any donation helps, and we sincerely appreciate your time, help and support. Thank you.
Funeral and Memorial services arrangements are being made, and we will share service details with everyone once they are provided.
All proceeds go directly to Darius’ mom Shantavia and will be allocated to the family’s needs.
