Please Help Me With My Student Loan Debt

My name is Christian and I am a queer Black non-binary cook. I graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 2016 to pursue my dreams of one day becoming a professional, well-rounded chef. I amassed 100k in student loan debt to learn the necessary skills of my trade. The American culinary industry has been fortified with the labor of underpaid Black people, but doesn’t make much space or opportunity for Black femmes like me and my ancestors who made this industry possible.

 
For the past four years I have been working two jobs and catering gigs to keep up with payments while living in the Bay Area. (If you live in the Bay, you know how expensive it is to survive out here, even without student loan debt!) It’s been a heavy cloud over my head for some time, puts unnecessary limits on professional and personal decisions, and is stifling my career.

 

Without the debt I could make moves and decisions that would help me reach my aspiration of being the chef owner of my own restaurant. Your support would greatly assist me in investIng in myself and focus on lifting up my career. Helping me by either sharing or donating would vastly improve my life and I will be forever grateful.
