My name is MacKenzi, and I am a Life Scout working on my Eagle Project, a Flag Retirement Pit for the American Legion Post 470.

Flag retirement ceremonies hold a profound significance in American culture. They are not just a procedure for disposing of a worn-out flag; they are a respectful tribute to an emblem that symbolizes the nation's values, history, and sacrifices. A flag retirement ceremony is conducted to ensure that Old Glory, as the American flag is affectionately known, is honored in its final moments. This process reflects the deep respect and patriotism felt towards the flag, acknowledging that even as it reaches the end of its service, it deserves a dignified and respectful conclusion.

Our Troop retires thousands of flags each year and the fire pit is due for a replacement. Your donation would be greatly appreciated so that we may continue to retire our American Flags with the dignity that they deserve.
