On Tuesday 12/29/20, Kanani collapsed while hiking the Makapuʻu Point Lighthouse Trail with our daughter Tiana. A group of nurses nearby on the hike stopped to perform CPR while waiting for an ambulance to arrive. It took almost 30 minutes for the ambulance to reach her at the top of the trail. The doctors advised that Kanani had a cardiac arrest and a tear in her heart. She was taken to the ICU and they repaired the tear, but her MRI shows multiple brain injuries due to lack of oxygen. She has difficulty speaking, eating, and walking and will need extensive rehab including occupational, physical and speech therapy.
Kanani Hosaka has always had a big heart and tremendous love for her community and family. If you can donate any amount, it would be a tremendous help to funding her recovery. Any money received will be used towards her recovery as well as family expenses. Kanani is 46 years old and a mother of 5, to our 4 daughters Tiffany (26), Tiana (23), Tehani (7), Tewai (6) and our son Temakana (3). I really believe that with rehab my wife will be able to regain what she has lost and return to us. Those of you that know Kanani know that she is a fighter with a strong spirit. I have hope that we will hear her laughter and see her cheeky smile again. Please share and spread this if you can. We greatly appreciate and thank you for taking the time to read Kanani's story.
