A few weeks ago our family was faced with the heartbreaking news that my dad’s options for treatment were almost gone and we truly did not think he would be with us until Christmas. Yesterday we received a glimmer of hope. His cancer team has decided to move forward with an aggressive combination of chemo and radiation to fight his stage 3 lung cancer.

This will mean daily treatments for 60 days in Halifax. Dad will be staying at the Lodge for free but his caregiver, which will be me, will need to pay $85 per night to stay there with him for 60 nights.

Unfortunately I simply do not have the funds to cover this. If you know my dad you know he is the type of man who never wants to make a big deal and refuses to hold benefits or ask for help. But he has given me permission to share this because he knows I want to fight for him the way he has always fought for me.

My dad is my best friend and the grandfather to three amazing kids. This treatment gives us hope that we will have more time with him but I cannot do it without help.
