Fundraiser for our mom Laura Romano's memory care

UPDATE ON LAURA ROMANO:
We have lowered our fundraising goal to $7500. because of certain factors.
Kim and I believe these are signs that our mom's body is starting to slow down.
She turns away food and shows little interest in eating or drinking.
We have been told this is the beginning of her transition, her journey back home to God.
Kim and I  just want to make her as comfortable as possible until that day passes.
We don't know if it will be tomorrow or in the coming  days, weeks or months.
 
The nursing home she is living in is very accommodating and the owners mother also 
resides there.  We couldn't have asked for a cleaner, nicer, warmer,  more accommodating
nursing home for our mom. Please keep her in your prayers and thank you for these kind

Hi, my name is Lisa Rose, and I am Laura Romano's eldest daughter and along with my sister

Kim Libretta, we are raising funds to help with our mom's memory care and boarding.

Our beautiful, sweet, loving mom has advanced Alzheimers now and caring for her

on our own is no longer an option. We have tried to keep her in her home.

Her caregiver for the past several years has been her 80 year old sister and our Auntie Elba.

Our aunt is not physically able to help our mom any longer.

Laura Romano is 84, recently survived COVID over the holidays and has a pacemaker.

Her body is strong, her resolve to live is great. However, she has suffered

several strokes, and she needs professional medical care we simply cannot afford

on her social security alone.

This is the reason we started the fundraiser.

 

We have started to search for a suitable nursing home with memory

care. But these facilities come at a premium. At the base level, boarding with memory care starts at

4500. to 6500. a month. Her social security benefits barely cover the cost of her daily memory care.

Our goal is to raise enough donations for her board and care over the next year.

She is correctly residing at The Meadows Post Acute care during Covid quarantine which has bought

us only a few weeks to try and secure a new home for her. We need to find her a nursing home

as soon as possible or she may be moved to someplace where she won't thrive.

 

Never in a million years did we ever imagine that our incredibly strong, vibrant, mom, a woman who

protected us , cherished us , adored us, raised us and loved us so unconditionally would be spending the twilight

years of her life with this cruel disease.

Some of you, who know my mom may remember her many years of dedicated service in the choir at

"Church On The Way" . She loved singing so much, and when we are together and I play music for her,

she smiles and perks up! She loves God and always tells me and Kim, even when she doesnt recognize us

that she loves us more!
