This is not known by many but my sister is legally blind and has been for the past several years due to an eye disease call Keratoconus. This is a degenerative disorder of the eye in which structural changes within the cornea causes it to thin and change into a shape similar to a cone. Keratoconus can cause substantial distortion of vision. If afflicting both eyes, the deterioration in vision can affect a person's ability to drive a car or read normal print. This is the case with my sister. Due to this disease, she has not been able to drive a vehicle in several years. And as a mother of two, this is very challenging. She walks nearly everywhere with her two girls, including the grocery store and her oldest daughter's dance class once a week. For everything else outside of walking distance like doctors appointments or going to functions, she has to rely on either family members or friends for transportation. Her vision has become so bad recently that she can no longer read anything further than a few inches away. At my niece's dance recital, my sister had to ask me which little girl on the stage was hers and had me help her point her camera in the right direction so she could take pictures. If my sister's eyesight is not corrected soon, she can go permanently blind. I'm writing this to ask for help! I'm starting a fundraiser to help my sister and her family be able to afford and pay for the surgeries, including a corneal transplant, that she will need to restore her eyesight. Please help me help my sister and her family save her eyesight so she can see her children grow up! Any donations are welcome and will get us that much closer to helping her save her vision. Thank you so much for your donations and support on this cause.
