Ramona, Everett & Arden’s Story

For many of us cancer will never rear its ugly head and ruin our health or fracture our family. Unfortunately, our amazing and beloved friends have had to face this terrible disease more than you might realize. This story begins with Everett losing his mom Beatrice, to leukemia in 1977 at the tender age of 4. His dad raised him with the help of friends and family. He then lost his grandma Lillian, in 1989 to stomach cancer. He met his love Ramona in 1993 and moved to Wabasca in 1997. Ramona became a teacher but sadly lost her mom to small cell carcinoma in November, 2010. But cancer was still not done with this family. This loss has been most devastating to her family including all the loved ones on both sides. Sadly, Ramona was diagnosed with leukemia less than a year after losing her mom in October 2011. She received a very long and difficult treatment to rid her body of this cancer of the blood. She was in remission for some time when God blessed her & Everett with an opportunity to adopt a beautiful baby boy in 2013. They were present for his birth and Ramona held her baby boy immediately upon his arrival. They named him Arden. Yet, again cancer was relentless and a relapse occurred in January 2015. The setbacks and hurdles have become insurmountable it would seem. The initial chemotherapy this time around did not get the cancer into remission. She was then sent to Toronto for an opportunity to receive a different trial treatment; however she was not accepted into the program (a computer generated random choice did not choose her). The next step involved another round of a stronger chemotherapy that has made her weak and sick. This also failed to get her into remission. Now her doctor has suggested she go to Seattle Washington for a T-Cell therapy called PLAT that is going to cost $500,000.00. This therapy uses our own immune system to fight cancer. T cells are white blood cells in the immune system. The goal with PLAT is to reprogram a patient's own T cells so they can seek out and destroy cancer cells wherever they are hiding in the body. If you would like to learn more about this treatment please go to:  http://www.seattlechildrens.org/clinics-programs/cancer/research-and-advances/clinical-trials/t-cell-therapy-leukemia/
The road will be long and arduous for Ramona as she will still require a bone marrow transplant from her sister afterwards.  WE NEED YOUR HELP FRIENDS! PLEASE DONATE ANY AMOUNT. PLEASE SHARE THIS PAGE REGULARLY. PLEASE PRAY THAT HISTORY DOES NOT REPEAT ITSELF AND ANOTHER LITTLE BOY LOSES HIS MOMMA TO LEAUKEMIA. RAMONA CAN WIN HER BATTLE! THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH…GOD BLESS YOU.
