Our fight with Huntington's Disease

My name is Julie. I am married to the most wonderful man, Greg. Back in 2009 Greg was diagnosed with Huntington's Disease. I had also been diagnosed with Melanoma in 2010 and Breast Cancer in 2012. We have been happily married for14 years. We live in Omaha, Nebraska. Greg has a son from a previous marriage (his first wife passed away from Melanoma). Josh is 23 and is in the US Navy serving as a submariner. He is following in his dad's footsteps as Greg was also in the US Navy on a sub and served our country for 10 years. I have a daughter Cassidy. Cassidy is 22 and is a Junior in college. She is studying Marketing.
With Greg's diagnosis, I know that I will have to watch the man I love deteriorate before my own eyes, all while keeping up with my own health. Huntington’s disease (HD) is a fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It deteriorates a person’s physical and mental abilities during their prime working years and has NO CURE. Many describe the symptoms of HD as having ALS, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s – simultaneously.
Greg has been on disability for over 4 years. I work full time which is great because it allows us to have medical insurance. However, sometimes money still gets tight. In the past two years we had to sell our dream home and move into a handicapped accessible home and we recently had to purchase a SUV as Greg was having much difficulty getting in and out of our 10 year old sedan. We help our daughter with college. Greg and I still like to enjoy life (before this horrid disease won't let him). We go on weekly date nights and still like to travel.
If you would help to support us, we would be forever grateful. We will use the money towards the cost of home health care and the cost of a skilled nursing facility/nursing home when it is time for Greg. Also to put some money into savings for an emergency fund.
We have both been through so much in our lives together, it would be so wonderful to have a little nest egg to fall back on. I worry so much about money and if we will be able to afford everything that is in store for our future.
